Rumpke Waste & Recycling handles trash collection and recycling within the City of Kettering. Your recycling container will be delivered once you establish service. Please contact Rumpke directly at www.rumpke.com or 1-800-828-8171 to establish your trash service.

Yes, you can recycle for free by dropping off your recycling to the City of Kettering’s Centralized Recycling Drop-off located at 2801 E. Stroop Road at Indian Riffle Park (behind Tannenberg Kennels). There is a green Rumpke dumpster at this location for recycling.

No, you cannot put regular recycling in the orange Hefty ReNew bags. This program does not replace regular recycling, but instead complements your existing curbside or drop-off program. Regular recycling and these orange bags can be placed in the same Rumpke cart or dropped off at the same Centralized Recycling Drop-off location, but the contents of the orange bags should only be hard-to-recycle plastics that are listed as accepted items by the Hefty ReNew Program. The City of Kettering no longer maintains a recycling center for these items. However, Montgomery County Solid Waste District accepts these materials for recycling. Please visit the MCSWD website or call (937) 225-4999 for hours of operation, locations, acceptable drop-off items, and fees associated with this program.

Each fall, we pick-up the leaves residents rake to their curbside. The collected leaves are taken to our “leaf farm” where the material is processed and made into leaf compost. Yard debris is used as part of our free mulch/compost program available for Kettering residents. The yard debris is ground in a tub grinder and sent to our composting site. After grinding, material is laid in rows to decompose and the rows are turned regularly to introduce air and moisture. The end product is a rich organic soil and mulch.

There are several ways to dispose of unaccepted yard debris:

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is located in the parking lots of the Kettering Police Department at 3600 Shroyer Road, the Kettering Recreation Complex, Delco Park, JK Kennedy Park, the Greene, Kettering Health Main Campus, Kettering Health Brain & Spine Center, Kettering Health Main Campus Central Garage, and Pavilion Cancer Center.
