Sustainable Transportation

Gasoline-powered vehicles contribute greatly to greenhouse gas emissions. The average passenger vehicle emits about 400 grams of carbon dioxide per mile, which is nearly a pound of carbon dioxide for every single mile you drive. By taking public transportation, carpooling, driving electric vehicles, biking or walking, or other alternative methods of transportation, you are reducing emissions and saving money.

Electric Vehicles & Charging Information

Electric vehicles produce less emissions than gas-powered vehicles, especially when powered by renewable energy. Electric vehicles are also cheaper to fuel and maintain in comparison to gasoline-powered vehicles. The City of Kettering is dedicated to making electric vehicle charging infrastructure more accessible to residents.

In the City of Kettering, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations are located in the parking lots of the Kettering Police Department, Kettering Recreation Complex, Delco Park, JK Kennedy Park, the Greene, Kettering Health Main Campus, Kettering Health Brain & Spine Center, Kettering Health Main Campus Central Garage, and Pavilion Cancer Center.

Walk Bike Kettering

By choosing to bike or walk instead of drive, you can significantly reduce emissions and air pollution. Leaving your car at home just two days a week can reduce your greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 2 tons per year. If everyone chose to walk or bike for just half of our car trips of under a mile, we could save 2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.
