Wilmington Pike Streetscape Enhancement

Status Update:

October 13, 2017:  Construction to replace a gas main along Wilmington Pike is nearly complete.  The contractor is restoring damaged areas of grass and pavement.  One lane may be closed during this work.

Construction of a sidewalk and new street lights on the west side of Wilmington Pike is progressing between Marshall Road and Stroop Road.  One of two southbound lanes will remain open to traffic.  Southbound drivers may consider an alternate route during peak traffic hours.

Construction of a sidewalk will be in progress next week at the intersection of Wilmington Pike and Stroop Road on the northwest corner and will continue north on Wilmington Pike.  During working hours, one of two southbound (Wilmington Pike) or westbound (Stroop Road) travel lanes will remain open to traffic. Southbound/Westbound drivers may consider an alternate route during peak traffic hours.

July 28, 2017:  Construction to relocate a gas main and telecommunications line on the west side of Wilmington Pike between Marshall Road and Stroop Road is planned to continue through mid-August.  During working hours, one of two southbound travel lanes will remain open to traffic.  Southbound drivers may consider an alternate route during peak traffic hours.

Construction of sidewalk will be in progress at two locations next week: on Wilmington Pike at Cloverfield Avenue and on Stroop Road, just west of Wilmington Pike.  During working hours, one of two southbound (Wilmington Pike) or westbound (Stroop Road) travel lanes will remain open to traffic. Southbound/Westbound drivers may consider an alternate route during peak traffic hours.

June 23, 2017:  Construction to relocate a gas main on the west side of Wilmington Pike between Marshall Road and Stroop Road is planned to continue through mid-July.  During working hours, one of two southbound travel lanes will be closed to traffic.  Southbound drivers may consider an alternate route during peak traffic hours.

Construction of the sidewalk and street lights is scheduled to begin in mid-July.

June 12, 2017:  Utility relocations are underway.  Construction is anticipated to begin in the next few weeks.

 

Project Description:  Construction will consist of an eight foot wide concrete shared use path, replacement of street lights and replacement of drive approaches and isolated deteriorated curb.

 

Project Limits:  West side of Wilmington Pike from Marshall Road to Stroop Road, wrapping around on the north side of Stroop Road to the traffic signal at Meijer.
