Schantz Avenue Bridge Replacement

Status Update:

June 13, 2019: Most of the piles on the west side have been driven…some to more than 45′ deep. Once pile driving is complete on the west side, the west concrete footer will be constructed using reinforcing steel and forms. Next, this area will be backfilled, the crane re-mobilized, and the piles on the east side will be driven.

Project Description:
This project  is the replacement of the Schantz Avenue bridge over northbound South Dixie Drive.  Additionally, the retaining wall along South Dixie Drive will be repaired and sealed.

Project Location:
The intersection of South Dixie Drive and Schantz Avenue.
Traffic Impacts:
Two-way traffic on South Dixie Drive will be maintained, though, reduced from two lanes to one lane in each direction. Northbound traffic will not able to turn left at Mayo Avenue, Carrollton Avenue, Prosser Avenue, nor Calvary Drive.
Schantz Avenue will be closed at the bridge. Access to South Dixie Highway will be detoured using South Patterson Boulevard, Crauder Avenue, and Sacramento Avenue.

Drivers are encourage to use alternative routes during peak traffic hours to avoid possible delays.
Project Schedule:
Construction is anticipated to take 7-8 months, with work starting in early April 1, 2019.
Contractor: Eagle Bridge has been awarded the contract.
