The Kettering Police Department is scheduled for a site based assessment as part of a program to maintain accredited status for law enforcement and the dispatch center by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation programs require agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the site based assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. The public hearing will be conducted in the City of Kettering Council Chambers located in the City of Kettering Government Center, 3600 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, Ohio.
Agency employees and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling 937-296-3273 on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, between 09:30 and 11:30 a.m. Comments will be recorded by the Assessment Team.
Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session, are limited to ten minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. Questions on the standards or copies of the standards can be answered and received at the Kettering Police Department, 3600 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, Ohio. Contact Jean Ruppert, Accreditation Manager, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 937-296-2576.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Kettering Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320 Gainesville, Virginia 20155.
