National Make a Difference Day is Saturday, Oct. 25

Posted on September 26, 2025

One of Kettering’s favorite initiatives is National Make A Difference Day, and it’s Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9:00 a.m. to noon! Everyone is welcome (children under 14 must be accompanied by adults).

Each year, on the fourth Saturday in October, volunteers across the nation come together to elevate community service in a big way. This year, on Saturday, Oct. 25, communities and organizations nationwide will roll up their sleeves and unite to celebrate Make a Difference Day. As the largest national day of community service in the United States, this annual event has positively impacted people and neighborhoods for decades.

Here in Kettering, our Cities of Service team—led by the Volunteer Office and the Planning & Development Department—works hand in hand with local neighborhoods to create meaningful and lasting change in our community. The City of Kettering is proud to offer several volunteer opportunities including helping install a rain garden at Van Buren Park, donating blood, removing invasive plants at State Farm Park, or creating holiday arts and crafts for local seniors and veterans at Victory Christian Church. Can’t make it to an in-person project? Holiday greeting card kits are available at the Volunteer Office for you to create cards for active-duty military personnel.

If you are interested in participating this year, please contact the Volunteer Office at 937-296-2433. All projects require advance sign-up to secure your spot, please click the link to join us https://www.ketteringoh.org/volunteer-opportunities-sign-up/
