Kettering Prepares for Impending Severe Weather

Posted on February 2, 2022

weather The City of Kettering is monitoring weather forecasts and preparing for anticipated ice and snow as temperatures drop Wednesday evening.

Once the rain begins to freeze, street crews will salt the major routes throughout the city. Crews will remain focused on these roadways as precipitation transitions to snow later in the day Thursday. Once the snow stops and these main roadways are clear, crews will begin to work their way through the neighborhoods in each district. An interactive snow and salt route map is available at https://www.ketteringoh.org/snow-salt-route-interactive-map/.

Residents are encouraged to assist in keeping roads passable by moving parked vehicles from streets and planning ahead. Keeping streets free and clear of parked vehicles is a tremendous help in the snow removal process allowing the entire street to be cleared and treated.

Large amounts of ice could lead to power outages. The City of Kettering’s Recreation Center will provide space to serve as a warming facility Thursday and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., as well as Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please use the main entrance to the facility for this service.

Decisions regarding service delivery due to weather will be shared with media outlets to help spread the word as the situation evolves. Additional updates will be provided on www.ketteringoh.org and the City’s social media channels.
