The City of Kettering’s Award Winning Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill Seasonal Youth Leader positions. The Youth Leaders are responsible for developing, coordinating and organizing recreational activities and other duties as assigned. These Youth Leader positions will be permitted to work 40 hours per week for a six- month period with a six-month break in employment prior to eligibility for any other position.

Examples of Duties (Illustrative Only):

Oversee the safety and well-being of camp participants from ages 3+ in a variety of settings;

Process and organize camp-related forms;

Document incidents and injuries;

Ensure camp service level expectations, PRCA and City standards;

Coordinate facilities, help manage transportation and organize supplies;

Plan, implement and supervise daily camp activities ;

Create daily lesson plans, organize and lead activities, ensure campers are engaged and participating;

Supervise camp participants on field trips, ensuring their safety;

Assist with marketing materials and strategies;

Assist in distributing and reviewing program evaluation, patron complaints and suggestions;

Prepare, break down and keep designated camp areas clean;

May need to be capable of driving a 15-passenger van.

Pay range $8.30-$9.25 per hour.  Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s related skills, knowledge, and abilities. 

Candidates must have an enthusiastic attitude, be creative, possess initiative and be assertive. Candidates must also be well organized and able to plan, promote and implement  a wide variety of youth activities. Preference will be given to candidates with two years’ related work experience as well as substantial leadership experience and/or training.
