SENIOR ADULT PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The City of Kettering, Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill the Regular Part-Time position of “Senior Adult Program Coordinator” at the Charles I. Lathrem Senior Center. The current position is up to 20 hours per week, with a flexible work schedule that may include nights and weekends. The Senior Adult Program Coordinator develops, supervises and executes recreation programs, day trips and special events. Other duties include completing program objectives, reports and evaluations, researching and recommending new ideas and completing monthly and annual reports. This position orders, secures and maintains inventory of all necessary supplies and equipment and evaluates activities to make necessary recommendations for improvements. This position is responsible for ensuring the facilities are scheduled, prepared and set up properly. The position is also responsible for developing monthly reports and program evaluation reports, assisting in budget development and management of activity expenses and using good judgment and relationship skills in dealing with customer concerns. This position assists other staff members in the daily operation of the Center and enforces and follows all policies and procedures established by the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.
The ideal candidate will have a college degree with over two years’ experience in the execution of recreation programs or gerontology or comparable experience which clearly demonstrates a high level of knowledge, skills and abilities. Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of the development, operation, organization and promotion of recreation programs and events. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, City employees and the general public and have a genuine interest in working with older adults.
Pay range is $16.70 – $22.16 per hour. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s related skills, knowledge, and abilities. Benefits include prorated sick leave, vacation leave and holiday pay.
