The City of Kettering is recruiting to fill a Seasonal Custodian/Maintenance Aide position in the City’s Facilities Division and to develop a pool of applicants for future custodial vacancies. The current work schedule is for four to five days per week, 6-7 hours per day, including evenings, weekends and possibly third shift. Employees in these positions may be called upon to work additional hours as needed. This employment opportunity is scheduled to begin in May 2021 and is expected to continue through the end of October 2021.
Work schedule days, hours and locations are subject to change. Performs routine custodial duties, including: cleaning restrooms; hard floor cleaning; carpet cleaning; washing/disinfecting surface areas; inventories and orders supplies; etc. May work independently or under general supervision. Some assignments may require the employee to be responsible for more than one facility. Applicants must possess or obtain a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
Some institutional/facility housekeeping experience is preferred; however, not required. Must be able to work well with staff and the general public and have good interpersonal skills. Must have good physical condition, with sufficient range of motion and strength to permit safe and efficient movement, lifting, grasping and use of moderately heavy equipment, materials, tools, furniture and other objects. High school graduate-level of ability in math, English and reading is required to permit communication with the general public in facilities and to read hazard warnings, work orders, instructions and to follow directions in the use of housekeeping supplies and equipment.
The pay range is $8.80 – $10.85 per hour; entry rate is contingent upon applicant’s related experience, skills, knowledge and abilities.
