Regular Part-Time Clerk

The City of Kettering’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a Regular Part-time Clerk position for the Charles I. Lathrem Senior Center (CIL). This position is responsible for all aspects of pass and activity registration, point-of-sale transactions and all financial transactions as required for each recreation pass or activity. This is a front-of-office clerical support position responsible for assisting callers and visitors with inquiries, concerns, requests, and program information.
Examples of Duties: (Illustrative Only)
Greets patrons and answers questions regarding facility, programs and department;
Answers phones, directs calls and provides information;
Registers participants in the appropriate program or activity;
Accepts payment for programs, activities and passes;
Assists in the development of goals and objectives pertinent to the Lathrem Senior Center;
Completes requests for refunds/credits/transfers to registrants and forwards to appropriate supervisor;
Responsible for counting and logging daily financial transactions;
Responsible for opening or closing the facility as directed.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, City officials and the general public. Must have good knowledge of office clerical practices, procedures and filing systems, and good computer, word processing and data entry skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and other related software programs is desirable. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have at least a high school graduate-level of ability in English, grammar and business math. Accuracy in all work is important.
Pay range $12.44 to $19.35 per hour. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s related skills, knowledge and abilities. Benefits include prorated sick leave, vacation leave and holiday pay.
