The City of Kettering’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a Full-time Recreation Manager. This is a management position responsible for the oversight of a comprehensive collection of recreation programs and services serving the leisure needs of all ages and ability levels within the community. The position also manages the operations of the Kettering Fitness and Wellness Center (KFWC) and the Charles I. Lathrem (CIL) Senior Center including responsibility for overall direction, safety, experience and quality service focused on the community. The Recreation Manager oversees the guidance and management of the operational areas of Fitness & Wellness, Adult & Senior Programs, Youth & Adult Sports and Youth, Family Programs & Events. The position ensures that recreation programs, services and events are adequately planned for the maximum enjoyment, safety and benefit of the community.
This position works closely with the Superintendent of Recreation to assist with the development and execution of individual and area goals and objectives and assesses recreational needs of citizens and the community by keeping a pulse on community interests and recreation trends of the future. Additional responsibilities include developing programs, services and events in accordance with data and survey findings and maintaining complete and accurate personnel, facility and program records and regularly analyzes data in pursuit of exemplary service.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A baccalaureate degree in Parks and Recreation, Exercise Physiology or Sports Management, or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and ability. Master’s degree and/or CPRP is desirable. Thorough knowledge of the objectives and principles of public recreation, including demonstrated expertise in recreation program development, execution and evaluation. Experience managing recreation facilities and recreation programs, including full-time staff supervisory experience. Must have experience in budget preparation and management and the ability to cooperate and work effectively with peers, employees at all levels, community organizations and the public. Ability to maintain accurate records, analyze data, make reports and present ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must obtain and maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid.
Annual salary up to $91,624 with entry rate contingent on candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge and abilities. Excellent benefits.
