PROGRAM & EVENT COORDINATOR

(Regular Part-Time Position)

GENERAL

The City of Kettering, Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill the Regular Part-Time position of “Program & Event Coordinator” at the Kettering Recreation Complex. The current position is up to 28 hours per week, with a flexible work schedule. The Program & Event Coordinator assists in the planning, development and execution of a comprehensive collection of recreation programs, camps and special events designed to meet the broad needs of the Kettering community. The Coordinator plans, implements and oversees assigned programs and events in family, intergenerational, adult and senior areas. The position is responsible for completing program objectives, reports and evaluations; researching and recommending new program ideas and completing monthly and annual reports and all correspondence in a timely fashion. This position works cooperatively with the Program Supervisor in other aspects of the Recreation division such as camps, classes, festivals and shows.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have a degree in parks and recreation, or a related field with 2 or more years of experience in the execution of recreation programs and events or comparable experience planning and implementing non-profit or community programs. Innovative programming skills related to the areas noted above, excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience in using computers effectively in business applications required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, City employees and the general public and have a genuine interest in working with the community, youth and families.

COMPENSATION

Pay range is $16.71 – $22.16 per hour. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s related skills, knowledge, and abilities.   Benefits include prorated sick leave, vacation leave and holiday pay.
