PRESCHOOL COORDINATOR

(Regular Part-Time Position)

THE POSITION:

The City of Kettering, Ohio, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department is recruiting internally from among current City of Kettering employees only to fill a Regular Part-Time position of “Preschool Coordinator.” The Preschool Coordinator coordinates licensed pre-school programs and classes for the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department and is also responsible for program supervision and staff.  General supervision is received from the Program and Youth Development Supervisor. This position has a variable weekly schedule not to exceed 25 hours per week.

This position coordinates all program offerings, assists with creative ideas when planning units or projects, and supervises both hourly and contractual staff. This position also researches and develops new areas of interest for the general population of children ages one to five, develops marketing strategies and promotes programs, composes monthly Tot Lot e-newsletters,  and works with other coordinators to assist in implementing Preschool targeted offerings such as Halloween Fun for Little Ones, Easter Egg-stravaganza, Daybreak Camp and Drop In Play.  This position reviews time cards before submitting to Program Supervisor, assists in the development of the budget and year-round program evaluations, submits all completed attendance reports and maintains a positive working relationship with parents and staff.  In addition, this position is responsible for handling grievances honestly and fairly involving parents and staff members, developing requested monthly reports, developing and implementing goals and objectives, and informing Program Supervisor of any suggested policy changes, public criticism and complaints or personnel conflicts.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must hold current CPR and First Aid certifications. Candidates must have an enthusiastic attitude, be creative, enjoy working with children as well as parents, possess initiative, be assertive and possess strong communication skills. Associates degree in child development or high school diploma with two years’ related work experience and educational training preferred. Experience must clearly demonstrate a high level of knowledge, skills and abilities.

COMPENSATION:

Pay range is $15.89 per hour to $21.09 per hour, with entry rate contingent upon the applicant’s related skills, knowledge and abilities. Benefits include prorated sick leave, vacation leave and holiday pay.
