The City of Kettering is recruiting to fill a Regular Part-Time Inclusion Manager position The Inclusion Manager will support the access and inclusion process for individuals with disabilities participating in programs and camps within the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts (PRCA) Department, The Manager will also work with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Advisory Committee and the ADA Coordinator on ADA issues to address City-wide access and inclusion matters. Must demonstrate knowledge of disabling conditions, and have experience in planning and implementation of a wide range of recreation programs for individuals with disabilities participating in programs and camps. Must have the ability to assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate inclusive recreation programs. Must have knowledge of current standards of professional practice and ability to apply these standards to daily work. Must be a highly motivated self-starter, outgoing and confident with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must have the ability to effectively communicate with full-time and part-time staff, volunteers, parents/guardians, participants, school district personnel and members of the general public. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must be an independent worker, able to solve simple to complex problems, demonstrate dependability, promptness and punctuality and convey a positive attitude to others. Must demonstrate strong leadership qualities, confidence, maturity, flexibility and professionalism. This position has a variable schedule of up to 28 hours per week.

DUTIES INCLUDE (Illustrative Only):

-Assists with in-service training for PRCA camp staff regarding inclusion and ADA education;

-Under the supervision of PRCA Director and in coordination with Human Resources, recruits, hires, oversees, trains and manages the inclusion staff/aides and volunteers for programs and camps;

-Conducts assessments with registrants requesting support due to disability; plans, develops, implements and evaluates camp programs including all inclusion needs;

-Supervises, trains and evaluates part-time employees with a supervisory style that includes well-developed organizational skills;

-Performs all other assigned duties requested by the ADA Coordinator and/or the ADA Advisory Committee to address City-wide access on    inclusion matters;

-Maintains records regarding inclusion and assists other PRCA staff in preparing reports regarding same;

-Performs all other assigned duties requested by the Director of Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts or his/her Designee.



Must have a minimum of two years of full time experience with persons with various disabilities. Must have knowledge of and ability to confidently work effectively with individuals with disabilities.   Ability to work well with others and project a positive image to the public.   Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work and communicate effectively. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Parks and Recreation or related field of study from an accredited college or university or any combination of education, experience and training, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. Will consider Certified ADA Coordinator; Current licensure as a Special Education teacher or current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) strongly preferred. First Aid/CPR/CPI certification a plus.



Pay ranges from $15.00 up to $25.00 per hour, with entry rate contingent upon the applicant’s related skills, knowledge and abilities. Benefits include prorated sick leave, vacation leave and holiday pay.
