Ice Arena Manager

The City of Kettering’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a Full-time Ice Arena Manager. This is a management position responsible for the oversight of the Kettering Ice Arena including safety, scheduling, ice maintenance, concession, cashier operations and a comprehensive lesson program serving the leisure needs of all ages and ability levels within the community. The position also manages the concession and cashier operations of the Adventure Reef Water Park in the summer season.
This position works closely with the Superintendent of Recreation to assist with the development and execution of individual and area goals and objectives and assesses the ice arena needs of citizens and the community by keeping up-to-date on community interests and trends of the future. This position is also responsible for developing programs, services and events in accordance with data and survey findings and establishing and enforcing procedures for the ice arena and concessions operations including maintenance and repair, cleanliness, safety and efficiency. Additional responsibilities include large budget preparation, administration and monitoring; maintaining complete and accurate personnel, facility and program records, and regularly analyzing data in pursuit of exemplary service.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A baccalaureate degree in Parks and Recreation or Sports Management, or the equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Master’s degree, CPRP, CIRM, CRA, CIT desirable. Experience managing an Ice Arena and associated lesson programs and thorough knowledge of the objectives and principles of public recreation, including demonstrated expertise in lesson program development, execution and evaluation. Ability to cooperate and work effectively with peers, employees at all levels, community organizations and the public. Established supervisory skills necessary to personally and professionally develop employees and volunteers. Ability to maintain accurate records, analyze data, make reports and present ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must obtain and maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid.
Annual salary up to $83,429 with entry rate contingent on candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge and abilities. Excellent benefits.
