(FIRE HYDRANT CREW)
The City of Kettering Fire Department is seeking energetic individuals with positive attitudes, good customer service skills and proven work history to fill seasonal Hydrant Aide positions to functionally test, paint, and maintain fire hydrants through the summer season. This position is responsible for clearing yard debris and obstruction from around fire hydrants in accordance with the Ohio Fire Code, conduct functional test on the hydrant to ensure proper operation, and for painting fire hydrants throughout the City of Kettering in a crew setting. This position works under the direction of the Fire Department Supervisors.
The pay range is $8.15 – $10.25/hour. Entry rate contingent upon applicant’s related skills, knowledge and abilities. The current positions are for up to 40 hours per week for 12 weeks from May 15, 2017 through August 4, 2017. Start and ending dates are flexible based upon availability. Uniform shirts and all supplies provided.
Candidates must be available to work consistent daytime hours throughout the summer. This position requires that candidates be capable of working outdoors in various climate conditions and be physically capable to operate the hydrant, perform hydrant cleaning, yard debris removal, operate power equipment and perform sanding and painting of fire hydrants. Candidates must be 18 years of age and maintain a good driving record.
