Habitat Environmental Center Naturalist

The City of Kettering, Ohio is recruiting to fill a NATURALIST position. This position assists with the planning and implementation of programs and events conducted through the Habitat Environmental Center. This position provides planning and instruction support to the Environmental Education Coordinator and executes environmental programming to the community, including birthday parties, camps, after school programs and overnight adventures. This position may perform a role in coordinating with outside organizations and interdepartmental contacts when planning and executing programs and events.
Ability to teach and lead various recreational and environmental education activities. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a variety of ages and skill levels. Applicants should be highly positive and enthusiastic and have a basic familiarity with program implementation including handling various animals, plants, and insects. Environmental Education experience preferred. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. The position will work up to 28 hours per week, based on program and event needs. Follows current dress code and other work procedures.
The salary range for the Naturalist position is $11.00/hr. to $15.00/hr. Entry rate contingent upon the candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge and abilities. This position works up to 28 hours per week.
