(Ice Arena/Kettering Recreation Complex)
The City of Kettering’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a full-time Facility Coordinator (Ice Arena/Kettering Recreation Complex) position for the Kettering Ice Arena and the Kettering Recreation Center (KRC). The Ice Arena/KRC Facility Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the operation and management of the Kettering Ice Arena and the Kettering Recreation Complex. Duties will vary as needed, typically based on the season. This position is responsible for ensuring security of all money and deposits as well as handling the opening, closing and security of the facility. This position also maintains the operation of the facility within a budget and handles grievances and disciplinary cases involving employees and assists with staff meetings.
Responsibilities also include assisting with the management and operation of the Kettering Ice Arena – including ice maintenance and quality of the ice surface, the Kettering Recreation Complex – including assisting all KRC information and check-in desks and the Adventure Reef Water Park Concession Operations – including assisting with staff recruitment and training. Duties also include assisting with the supervision, hiring, orienting and evaluation of the Ice Arena and KRC employees, supervision of programs and program development, completion of facility set-ups and tear-downs and enforcing and following all policies and procedures established by the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidates must have the ability to obtain knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in the operation and maintenance of a recreation facility, including the ice arena; the ability to maintain records and to prepare and present reports; the ability to direct and supervise subordinates and to maintain a positive working relationship with them for the efficient operation of the facility; the ability to promote and motivate the general public’s interest in the services offered by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department; the ability to exercise good judgment and function within broad guidelines with a minimum of direction; the ability to train, assist and evaluate the work of subordinates; and the ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing.
Pay range is $16.70 to $22.16 per hour. Entry rate is contingent on candidate’s related skills, knowledge and abilities. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, holiday pay and other fringe benefits.
