ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER ADMINISTRATOR
The City of Kettering is recruiting to fill a Regular Full-Time Assistant Volunteer Administrator position. This position assists with the recruitment, retention, recognition and risk management of the City’s volunteer program. The program has been in existence since 1979 and consists of over 1,000 volunteers contributing 40,000 hours annually. Additional responsibilities include general office duties and office administration, assisting the Volunteer Administrator in developing new programs for volunteers; collaborating with various organizations throughout the community to support volunteer efforts; assisting with the planning and implementation of projects and events; maintaining the volunteer program’s webpage and social media; and managing volunteer data.
This position requires advanced communication skills, both written and oral. Related experience in volunteer management preferred with combined outstanding organizational skills, excellent customer service and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, the general public, employees, city officials and other volunteer-related service agencies. Ability to communicate concisely and clearly with representatives of other departments, volunteers and the general public.
The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work in a team environment and professional manner, and be capable of independent judgment. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends for special events. Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access in addition to experience with volunteer management software and WordPress is desirable.
The salary range for this position is up to $59,509 annually, with entry rate contingent upon the candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge, and abilities; excellent benefits. Experience with volunteer organizations or programs preferred; completion of a high school diploma or its equivalent required; supplemented with additional related college courses, seminars or degree; previous public relations and volunteer management experience desirable or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
