The City of Kettering, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a regular part-time Arena Facility Coordinator position for the Kettering Ice Arena. The current position is for 28-hours per week during prime season and 15-hours per week during the off season.
The Arena Facility Coordinator is responsible for the operations and management of the Kettering Arena and for opening, closing and securing the facility. The Arena Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the Arena’s programs, employees, ice maintenance and snack bar and its supervision in the absence of the Arena Supervisor. This position assists in hiring, scheduling and evaluating Arena employees and instructors and in the development of new programs. The Arena Facility Coordinator is responsible for the security of all money and keeping an efficient inventory of supplies; maintaining accurate records and reports; and handling minor grievances of Arena employees and patrons. The Arena Coordinator reports to the Arena Supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in the operation, maintenance and supervision of the Kettering Arena. Must have the ability to maintain accurate records, prepare reports and exercise good judgment and function within broad guidelines with a minimum of direction. Must have the ability to assist in hiring and evaluating the work of subordinates; to direct and supervise subordinates; and to maintain a positive working relationship with them for the efficient operation of the Kettering Arena facility. Needs to be certified in Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and have the ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. Must have considerable knowledge and experience relating to off-season programming and ice arena management and considerable knowledge of the Kettering Arena in relationship with the administrative function of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts department.
Pay range is $15.89 to $21.09 per hour. Entry rate is contingent on candidate’s related skills, knowledge and ability. Benefits include prorated vacation leave, sick leave and holiday pay.
