The City of Kettering’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a full-time Aquatics Supervisor. The Aquatics Supervisor performs professional administrative and supervisory work necessary to direct the operation of the Adventure Reef Water Park and the indoor pool at the Kettering Recreation Complex (KRC), including facility management, staff supervision and program administration. This supervisory position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Aquatics operations, utilizing data and trends to determine the leisure needs of guests of all ages and abilities in the community, and assuring that aquatic programs and facilities are adequately planned for the maximum safety and benefit to the community.
This position also supervises the maintenance and mechanical components of the Aquatic operation and recruits, interviews, hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff and work assignments in the Aquatic area. The Aquatics Supervisor plans, organizes and conducts orientations and in-service training for Aquatic staff and assists the Facility Manager with projects and tasks that may be outside of the realm of the Aquatic cost center.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the objectives and principles of public recreation, including a thorough understanding of activities that comprise a community recreation program, demonstrated expertise in aquatic program development, execution and evaluation and experience in budget preparation and management. The ideal candidate must be able to adapt to a varied work schedule involving nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to assure successful operation of the Recreation Division. A Baccalaureate degree in a field related to Recreation or the equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. CPO or AFO required; Lifeguarding, WSI, CPRP desirable. Must have the ability to work effectively within a large team and to interact in a customer service environment and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative staff, peers, subordinates, Parks Division and Cultural Arts Division personnel, volunteers and community organizations.
Annual salary up to $72,218 with entry rate contingent on candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge and abilities. Excellent benefits.
