ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY-KETTERING MUNICIPAL COURT (Full-Time)

Kettering Municipal Court is recruiting a Full-Time Administrative Secretary. The Administrative Secretary will perform responsible, diversified secretarial and administrative tasks, including typing, filing, scheduling, and utilizing a computer for word processing and database management. The Administrative Secretary will facilitate fluid data exchange between the proceedings in the Court and the Clerk of Courts Office; perform a variety of tasks related to Criminal, Traffic and Civil cases; and maintain courteous and professional interaction with attorneys, other offices and the public.
The use of good judgment in the application of prescribed procedures and methods and handling routine operational matters is essential. The ideal candidate will be able to readily apply a good working knowledge of administrative procedures and programs of the legal system and must take initiative to quickly and effectively resolve routine and technical issues by providing accurate responses to public and employee inquiries. The ability to develop a general understanding of laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures concerning the Municipal Court is vital. The Administrative Secretary’s duties are performed under the general supervision of the Municipal Court Judges.
The ideal candidate will have excellent administrative, organizational, customer service and communication (oral and written) skills; working knowledge of the legal system; a high level of proficiency and accuracy in office computer applications and word processing including Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel); the ability to transcribe dictation at a reasonable speed; the ability to maintain complex records and prepare reports; and the ability to use good judgment, tact and courtesy in working with all levels of staff, City officials, police, witnesses, and the general public.
Considerable experience in secretarial work including, but not limited to: typing and transcription; drafting correspondence, documents, and forms; typing; filing, and office organization is required. A high school diploma or equivalent with additional business school training relating to secretarial, legal, and office skills, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is required with a certificate or degree in Paralegal studies or other related field desirable.
The salary range for this position is $22.83/hr ($47,486 annually) to $27.70/hr ($57,616 annually); excellent benefits. The entry rate is contingent upon the candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge and abilities.
