INTERN – TEMPORARY PART-TIME
The City of Kettering, Ohio is recruiting to fill a temporary part-time Intern position in the City’s municipal income Tax Division of its Finance Department. The position is available for 28 hours per week during the summer of 2018.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Intern will assist in the following duties:
- Reviewing income tax returns for completeness and accuracy
- Entering W-2 and tax return data into the tax software
- Answering telephone inquiries or directing callers to the appropriate staff member
- Opening mail
- Scanning and/or indexing tax documents into a document management system
- Identifying new taxpayers through review of utility listings and new resident listings
Training will be provided for all duties assigned, including use of the Tax Division’s income tax software and document management system, procedures for the review of income tax returns, requirements of the City of Kettering Income Tax Code, and other office procedures.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The ideal applicant will have knowledge and expertise with computers, good organizational skills, mathematical accuracy, and good data entry skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others and project a positive image to the public. Course work in federal taxation is a plus.
Pay range for this position is $11.75 to $13.85 per hour with the entry rate contingent upon the applicant’s related skills, knowledge and abilities.
