KPD Honored As One Of The Top 20 Agencies In Ohio

Kettering, OH – The Kettering Police Department has recently been honored by the Ohio Department of Public Safety. KPD participated in two mobilizations during the spring and summer of 2005. One, the “Click it or Ticket” campaign from 23 May 05 through 05 June 05 encouraged drivers to wear their seatbelts when operating a motor vehicle on the roadways. The second campaign entitled, “You Drink and Drive, You Lose!” was conducted between 19 August and 06 September discouraging impaired and intoxicated persons from driving.

With over 900 agencies throughout the state that could have participated and over 200 that submitted reports, Kettering PD was selected as one of the top twenty.

Kettering Police Department’s participation alone allowed the agency to receive a new “PYTHON” radar unit. According to Bob Painter, the Governor’s Highway Safety Officer, “Kettering Police went above and beyond to inform the public and promote safe driving.”

KPD has received this recognition because of their extra efforts as presented in a report prepared by KPD Sgt. William Karolyi and submitted to the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

In the spring of 2006, a representative from KPD will draw one of twenty keys in hopes that it will be the one that unlocks the door to a brand new police car. The patrol vehicle will be valued at approximately $25,000 and fully equipped.
