Recreation & Social Activities
The center offers many leisure options. Coffee is always on, and the billiards room, library, lab computers and lounge are available for recreational use when the center is open. Please stop by.

SPECIAL EVENTS
The CIL offers a variety of events throughout the year. Social gatherings may include live bands in the evening or lunchtime entertainment. A Senior Celebration is held in May to honor Older Americans Month and an annual health screening is held in the fall. Check the monthly Lathrem Letter (PDF File) for details on these events.

Bingo
Play bingo at the CIL from 1:00 – 4:00 pm each Wednesday. The cost is 25 cents per card, and all money taken in is paid out in prizes.

Gardening
Trips, educational topics and plant exchanges are a few of the opportunities offered.

Quilting/Sewing
Whether you are a beginning quilter or a seasoned seamstress who is looking for new ideas, this group is for you! Participants bring their own projects to work on. New faces are always welcome but you must have an active CIL membership. Sewing machines are not available on site. This is a drop-in program held each Monday from 9:30 am – 11:30 am at the Polen Farm Banquet Room, 5099 Bigger Road.

Needle Little Help
If you like doing needlework, please share your ideas and talents with this friendly group. They donate many hours of their time crocheting, knitting and needle pointing items to sell for the benefit of members who cannot afford membership or transportation costs. This is a drop-in program that meets each Friday from 9:00 – 11:00 am at the Lathrem Center.

Red Hat Society
The Lathrem Senior Center is an official chapter of this society. Large group quarterly socials are held. All members are encouraged to join one of the smaller Red Hat groups within the center for monthly gatherings. Women wear a purple outfit and, of course, a red hat to every meeting or outing. $10 gets you into this women's club. Check out current activities in the Lathrem Letter (PDF File).

Musical Groups
Kettering Senior Show Choir - Sing Broadway and movie scores with this chorus. Practice is each Friday at Christ United Methodist Church on Shroyer Rd at 9 a.m. The group gives performances throughout the year.

Clack ‘n’ Clatter Kitchen Band - Play kazoos and kitchen cookware-inspired instruments. Sing the fun old songs while entertaining others. The group practices at the CIL each Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Ukulelians - The Lathrem Senior Center has its own ukulele band. The group practices each Thursday at The Rosewood Art Center at 10 a.m. This group also does performances throughout the year for the community. You are welcome to join any time!

ROMEOS (Retired Older Men Eating Out)
Men enjoy eating out at a local restaurant once a month as a group. Watch the newsletter for the date and the time to meet at the center. Transportation to the restaurant is provided.
