| The center provides information and referral services for resources available to older adults in the community. Some services are provided at the center and speakers are regularly scheduled to address current topics affecting older adults. A sampling of services includes:
Daily Hot Lunch
Provided at the CIL by Senior Resource Connection, Monday through Friday at Noon, for a donation. Reservations must be made by Noon the day before. (Reservations for Monday must be made by Friday at Noon).
Income Tax Assistance
AARP trains qualified volunteers to assist with tax returns through their TCE (Tax Counseling for the Elderly) project. An appointment is required for this free service that is held Monday through Friday, February 1 through April 15 each year. Call (937) 296-2469 beginning mid-January to schedule an appointment.
Legal Aid Assistance
Available to assist senior adults with legal questions concerning Advance Directives such as Living Wills, Guardianship and Power of Attorney. Staff will direct you to a Legal Aid representative or can assist you with filling out an application for assistance. Call (937) 296-2480 for more information.
Medicare Advisory Service
Medicare assistance is offered at the center by the City of Kettering Senior Services Coordinator each month at the CIL. She is available to assist with paperwork and answer questions. Please call (937) 296-2480 to schedule an appointment.
The Kettering Connection
The Lathrem Center also operates The Kettering Connection, an information and referral source at Town and Country Shopping Center. The Connection is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30 am – 2:00 pm. Stop by and gather information on the many services offered in the Miami Valley for older adults.
