Instruction
A variety of classes are offered throughout the year to appeal to many interests and tastes. Learn about current topics, a new hobby, today's technology and ways to improve one's life. A sampling of classes include:

AARP Mature Driving Course
AARP has developed a terrific class to review driving skills and prepare seniors for today's challenges on the road. The two-day course examines facts and explores ways to refine your existing skills and develop safe, defensive-driving techniques. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited. Call the CIL for dates or call AARP at 1-888-227-7669 for sites offering classes in the Dayton area.

Computer Classes
Members may sign-up for a series of classes that teach basic computers, e-mail and the Internet in a small group environment. Computers are also available for "drop-in" use and for those who are computer literate. Volunteers are also needed to assist.

Creative Writing
Enjoy the creative minds of others while learning to develop the story or poem within you by attending the meetings of the CIL Creative Writers Group. The group meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. All are welcome to this informal and congenial drop-in program.

Monthly Breakfast Speaker Series
Start the day with interesting speakers and a delightful continental breakfast. Each month's program begins at 9:30 am. The Lathrem Letter (PDF File) will feature each month's scheduled speaker.

Sinclair Community College Classes
Take college courses at the Lathrem Senior Center – free of charge for anyone 60 years of age or better. Sinclair offers college-level courses that are free of homework, books and tests. Examples are line dancing as well as educational courses, such as World History. Registration is required, and a schedule of each quarter's offerings is available at the center.

Art Display
Local artists aged 55+ display their paintings, photographs or other hangable works each month along the walls of the Lathrem Senior Center. Call (937) 296-2480 for additional information.
