Each chaplain is expected to maintain a minimum of eight contact hours a month. Such contact can be during roll calls, ride alongs, and general visits at the police department. Each chaplain turns in a monthly activity sheet to the Chaplain Coordinator, who reports all chaplain activity to the Operations Captain. Our chaplaincy program usually averages twenty contact hours a month.
The Kettering Police Department holds a Citizens Police Academy where the chaplaincy program is presented. The program's structure in many ways follows the guidelines of the International Conference of Police Chaplains with the exception of specific language in reference to the General Orders of the Kettering Police Department.
The department supports this program by providing an office for the chaplains and the necessary training and materials to maintain its proficiency. The chaplains serve the uniformed and non-uniformed police personnel and act as a resource to the community.
We appreciate the chaplains who volunteer their time and effort to this department and the community.
