| Team members must undergo a rigorous selection process which includes a structured oral interview, physical performance test, firearms exercise, and psychological screening. The team trains together approximately 15-20 days a year in a variety of topic areas. Team members also receive individual and group training from nationally renowned organizations such as NTOA, LAPD, Miami PD, H & K, IACP, FBI, and other specialized units.
The Special Response Team organizational structure consists of a Scene Commander, Crisis Negotiation Supervisor who oversees five negotiators, two Team Leaders, and twelve team members.
