K-9 Officers

K9 Officers

The Kettering Police K-9 Unit is currently comprised of a lieutenant, two sergeants and
two handlers. Lieutenant Wendell Willcox is the K-9 Commander. Sergeants Joe Domsitz and Bill Karolyi are responsible for supervising activities and training. Patrol Officer Clint Price handles and partners with canine “Bandit.”


Bandit is a Labrador Retriever and is a narcotics-detecting dog. She was donated to the Kettering Police Department by the late Kettering Patrol Officer Dondi Marsh.

“Brix.”  Brix is a a 17 month old Sable-colored shepard purchased from a kennel in Pennsylvania that imports police service dogs from Europe. Ptl. Lambert and Brix started training in MArch of 2008 and graduated passisng the OPOTA standard test on July 5, 2008.   The test consisted of six segments, Tracking / Article Search / Area Search for a suspect / Building Search / Apprehension work (bite work) and obedience.   At this point, Brix is a single purpose K-9 similar to that of Sabre and other past K-9's.   Ptl. Lambert and Brix are assigned the fourth watch with rotating days off.
