Our responsibilities lie in four primary areas:

Planning and Zoning:
Our planning staff develops and implements the City-wide comprehensive plan and various neighborhood and corridor plans. The primary task of planning and zoning is to take a long-term look at development opportunities, create plans and direct development in accordance with those plans and City codes. In addition, the planning staff supports the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.

Building Safety:
The building safety staff is charged with ensuring buildings are safe for all Kettering residents and businesses.

Property Maintenance Code Enforcement:
Keeping property maintained is essential to the long-term health and value of Kettering neighborhoods and businesses. Our Property Maintenance Inspectors work with home and business owners to ensure our neighborhoods maintain their value.  You can file a complaint online or call the 24-hour Property Maintenance Hotline at 937-296-3286.

Community Development:
The Community Development staff administers programs to assist Kettering families with home improvements and improving neighborhoods. These programs are primarily funded through the Community Development Block Grant program.
