Through the Community Development Block Grant Program and the FEMA/State of Ohio Mitigation Grant Program, the City purchases homes from willing sellers. The following programs are being implemented at the present time:

Floodway Mitigation Project
In February 2005, the City of Kettering received a grant from the State of Ohio Mitigation Agency to purchase homes from willing sellers along the Middle Branch of the Little Beaver Creek. After the property is appraised, the City presents a purchase offer to the homeowner; if the homeowner accepts the offer, the property is sold to the City.

Purchase Rehabilitation Program
Through the City of Kettering Community Development Block Grant Program, the City purchases homes from willing sellers to remodel and then sell to income eligible homebuyers. The City generally purchases one home a year.
