Job Information
Detailed job announcements for all current full-time recruitments are available at the City of Kettering Human Resource Department, 3600 Shroyer Road, Kettering, Ohio, and are posted online. All job postings contain information regarding job duties and qualifications, salary range, benefits, closing date and materials required to apply.  Depending upon the recruitment and position, an application, resume or other documents may be required.  Applications / Resumes are only accepted for current job openings that are posted.

How to Apply
A separate application or resume must be submitted for each position for which you apply and be submitted to the Human Resource Department no later than 5:00 pm on the closing date. When you complete a job application and a supplemental questionnaire, should one be required for a City position, be sure to emphasize the education, skills, training and experience that most qualify you for the position for which you are applying.

Due to the volume of applications received by the City, contact with every applicant is not possible. You may request information on a selection process by calling (937) 296-2446 or by clicking on Open Recruitments, the last column lists the current status of recently posted positions.


Obtaining an Application
Area Residents may obtain application materials, for those positions requiring an application, from the Human Resource Department, 3600 Shroyer Road, Kettering, OH 45429, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (except City Holidays).

Out-of-area residents may have applications mailed by calling (937) 296-2446 or by sending an e-mail to Human Resources. Please include your name, mailing address and the position title(s) in your request. However, we cannot guarantee that applications that are mailed out will be received in time for applicants to meet the closing dates.

Application materials are also available online, for those positions requiring an application, in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format for you to print out. Online forms are to be printed and are not to be merged with a word processing program. Job application forms that have been altered from their original format will not be accepted.  You may obtain the relevant form(s) by clicking the link on the Current Job Openings page, found under "Required / Accepted".  Note that the requirements vary by position and you should be sure to select the specific position that interests you.

To ensure consideration, application materials must be submitted to the Human Resource Department, 3600 Shroyer Road, Kettering, OH 45429 or via fax at (937) 296-3371 no later than 5:00 p.m. on the posted closing date. When no closing date is posted, apply immediately since closing may occur without notice.  If you submit a faxed copy of your application materials, please follow-up and submit the original materials to the Human Resource Department.


Selection Process
Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience and training. The selection process varies according to the position and can include such things as: screening of supplemental questionnaires, written or skill civil service tests, ability or fitness tests, interviews and assessment processes, background investigations and criminal and/or driving record checks, a pre-employment psychological assessment and/or medical examination and a drug test. Temporary (Seasonal) Employment
The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department hires many temporary employees to support summertime recreation activities and parks maintenance. You may download an application (Acrobat PDF document) and drop-off or mail to the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Administrative Office at 3600 Shroyer Rd.

The Street Department hires temporary employees to support leaf pick up operations in the fall. If you are interested in this or other temporary, seasonal employment opportunities, contact the Human Resource Department. Temporary, part time employees are not eligible for benefits.
