The Kettering Fire Department provides a wide range of services. In addition to fire and emergency medical services, the staff also is trained and equipped to handle special emergency situations, including hazardous material incidents, confined space rescue, rope rescue, water/ice rescue and building collapse rescue.
The Fire Department also is responsible for disaster preparedness including maintaining the city's Disaster Plan and Emergency Operations Center as well as activating the public notification (warning siren) system.
Taking a proactive approach to community fire safety through its fire prevention programs, the department offers safety inspections, pre-construction plans review, public education programs and post-fire investigations. For businesses or citizen groups in the city, the Fire Department will provide at no or low cost training programs in fire extinguisher use, CPR and first aid. A child car seat safety check program is offered as well. Appointments can be scheduled for our monthly seat check sessions.
