West Avenue Reconstruction, Phase 1
Project Limit:
The project will begin at the west end of Eureka Drive and will continue to Gaylord Avenue.
Project Description:
This project involves the reconstruction of West Avenue with new asphalt, curb and gutter, sidewalk and improved drainage. The existing bridge on the proposed West Avenue will also be repaired as part of this project.

Status Update:
Construction has started on the project. The contractor has completed the underground utility work along the project which included storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water work. The contractor has placed the new bridge beam and installed the new guard rail on the bridge. All of the curb for the new roadway has been poured and the contractor is working on pouring the new concrete walks along the roadway. Please be aware that West Avenue is closed at the intersection of West Ave and Wiles Drive. The project is anticipated to be complete the summer of 2013.

Wilmington Pike Reconstruction - Ansel to Smithville
Project Limit:
The project will start approximately 200 feet south of Ansel Drive and will terminate at Y-Intersection of Smithville Road.
Project Description:
The project involves improvements to Wilmington Pike from Ansel to Smithville. The improvments will include new pavement, curb, sidewalks, storm sewers, and street lighting; the replacement of the existing traffic signal at Ansel Drive; and the replacement of the existing 12" water main. It will also include the deck replacment of the bridge near the intersection of Imperial Blvd.
This project is being funded by a Federal grant, which was provided through the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission. This project is also being funded by a State grant through the Ohio Public Works Commission. The local share of the funding will be shared between the City of Kettering, Montgomery County Engineer's Office and Montgomery County Water Services.

Status Update:
The Wilmington Pike Project is 99% complete with only a few minor items to complete. All the barrels have been removed fromt the project and the roadway is completely open. Thanks for your patience and understanding through the construction.

Vale Bridge Replacement
Project Limit:
The Vale Bridge is located on Vale Drive just east of Galewood Street.
Project Description:
This project consists of the replacement of a three-cell concrete bridge with a three sided, single span concrete culvert along with decorative handrails, minor ditch work and roadway work .

Status Update:
The project is expected to bid summer, 2013 with construction starting late summer. Vale Drive will be closed at the bridge during the duration of construction.

Southeast Corridor Trail Bikeway
Project Limit:
The proposed work is approximately 2.95 miles long. This project, when connected with the path along Hempstead Station Drive, will connect Centerville to Dayton through Kettering. The Jane Newcom Park is on the Kettering/ Dayton Corporation line. The Jane Newcom Park is a City of Dayton park that is partially within the City of Kettering. Project Description:
There are 3 types of path in this project.
Starting on Mayfield Avenue the path is going to be on neighborhood streets that will be designated and signed as “shared roadway” for both bicycles and motorized vehicles. The shared roadway solution extends to the former railroad route where it intersects Wiltshire Blvd. The total length of proposed shared roadway is approximately 2.6 miles.
From Wiltshire Blvd to the Jane Newcom Park the path will be a proposed 1,500 foot long by 10 foot wide asphalt path built on former railroad property.

Status Update:
The contractor has completed the paving of the new path with plans to perform the final dirt work and seeding in the next week. The bike path is projected to be complete at the beginning of June.

2013 Asphalt Overlay Program
Project Location:
This year’s Asphalt Overlay Program includes milling the existing asphalt and placing new asphalt on several residential streets.
Project Description:
Each year the City of Kettering evaluates the conditions of all the city streets to create the annual street maintenance program. After the streets are evaluated, they are then ranked according to the pavement condition and a list is created for the streets that may be paved this year. Status Update:
The Paving Program has started in the Rolling Fields neighborhood and will be moving through the areas to be paved. No Parkings signs will be placed 24 hours in advance to any work on the roadways. Also included in this years program is to address the dip that is on Swigert Road which has started. Traffic will be maintained on Swigert during the repairs.

2013 Sidewalk, Curb, & Drive Approach Repair Program
Project Limits:
Neighborhood bounded by Vale Drive, Blackhawk Road and County Line Road; as well as additional locations throughout the City of Kettering.

Project Description:
Includes replacement of existing concrete curb, drive approaches and sidewalks that are in poor condition. Property owners are assessed the cost for replacement of the concrete.

Status Update:
Preliminary assessment letters were mailed to the property owners on March 7, 2013.
Private contractors have until May 24th to complete their work (permits were to be acquired by May 10th). The City's contractor arrived in town May 8th to begin the project. They will begin work in the neighborhood shown on the attached map and work in the outlying areas last.
Completion is expected to be in the Fall of 2013.

2013 Concrete Repair Program
Project Limit:
Various locactions throughout the City of Kettering.
Project Description:
Includes the repair of existing concrete items including street panels, and medians on public streets, along with curb and flatwork in City parks and facilities.

Research Park Street Light Replacement

Stroop Road and Shroyer Road Signal Upgrade
Project Limit:
The project is located at the intersection of East Stroop Road and Shroyer Road.
Project Description:
The project involves the upgrade of the signalized interesection, which includes the installation of new pole and equipment.

East Stroop Road Enhancements
Project Limit:
East Stroop Road, between Far Hills Avenue and Shroyer Road
Project Description:
The project will include construction of hardscape features, including new and widended sidewalks, pavers, and decorative walls, bollards, and curbing. New streetlights and sidewalk lights will also be installed.

RTA Bus Stop Accessibility Improvements

The project will include increasing the accessibility of the RTA bus stops by adding concrete between the back of the existing curb and the sidewak.
