ELIGIBILITY
The View is a juried exhibition created by Rosewood Gallery as a showcase for Ohio artists presenting traditional or abstract views of landscape or land imagery, environmental themes and world issues. All media and subject matter considered. Entries must be original works completed within the last four years, not to exceed 60 inches in width (image). Works previously exhibited at Rosewood Gallery are not eligible.
ENTRY PROCEDURE
Jurying will be done from digital images (CD or e-mailed files). Digital files should be no larger than 1000 ppi (72 dpi) at the largest measurement and must be named as follows: "LASTNAME_A.JPG." To e-mail images to amy.anderson@ketteringoh.org, you must put "LASTNAME _VIEW ENTRY" in the subject line and name files as follows: "LASTNAME_A.JPG."
Entry forms and fees can be mailed or you can call 937-296-0294 and pay with credit card, and e-mail your entry form. Each 3-D work may be shown in up to 3 images, if needed. A non-refundable entry fee of $20 (total for up to 3 works) must accompany each entry form. Multiple entries are accepted. Checks should be made payable to the City of Kettering. Please include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) with your entry if you want your CD returned.
Artists who are shipping their work are responsible for shipping charges both ways. Return shipping must be PREPAID. If no such arrangements are made, the artwork will not be returned. All submissions must be received at Rosewood Gallery by April 6, 2012. Please do not send actual work until jury notification via e-mail or SASE. After jury notification, accepted works should either be hand-delivered or sent PREPAID postal carrrier to arrive at Rosewood Gallery the week of May 29 - June 1, 2012. Shipped works must be packaged in reusable cartons and return shipping should be PREPAID. All 2-D work must be framed with glass or Plexiglas (if shipped), wired and ready to hang upon delivery. Artists should ship or deliver their work with completed identification labels attached to the back or on the bottom of 3-D pieces.
OPENING RECEPTION
An opening reception will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. All artists and the public are invited to attend. Juror awards are presented at 3 p.m.
AWARDS AND SALES
The Juror awards (a total of $1,100) are presented at the discretion of the juror. Sales are encouraged, and a 30% commission will be retained from all purchases by the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department, sponsor for Rosewood Gallery.
LIABILITY
Every precaution is taken in handling entries. All work is insured during the installation process and while the work is on display in the Rosewood Gallery. The Gallery Coordinator reserves the right to reject work if it violates any conditions set forth in this prospectus, or is unsafe to display for any reason.
PICK UP OF WORK
Upon completion of the show, exhibited work may be picked up by the artists on Saturday, July 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday, July 9, from noon to 7 p.m. If the artist wishes to delegate someone else to pick up the work, she/he must notify the Gallery Coordinator in advance. The Gallery will not be responsible for work remaining at Rosewood after July 31, 2012.
AGREEMENT
Submission of an entry to The View constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to all the conditions set forth in this prospectus. The Rosewood Gallery reserves the right to reproduce accepted entries for publicity purposes.
The Rosewood Gallery specializes in the exhibition of contemporary art by emerging local, regional and national artists. It is dedicated to the encouragement and creation of new works and to the promotion of the visual arts in the Dayton, Ohio, area. The Rosewood Gallery is sponsored by the City of Kettering Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts, with support from the Kettering Arts Council and the Ohio Arts Council.
