About the PRCA Bond Levy
Thank You Kettering!

Thank You Kettering!Thank you Kettering residents for your recognizing the value of parks, recreation and cultural arts. By passing Issue 18, many of our parks and facilities will be updated and improved. Issue 18 was successful because of the continued support of Kettering residents. Whether you put a sign in your yard, informed others about the benefits of Issue 18 or voted yes  - we couldn’t have done it without you!

You’ll see many changes at our parks and facilities over the next five years. For up-to-date information about the projects, check our website.

The City of Kettering will ask voters this fall to pass a bond issue for improvements to Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts (PRCA) facilities. If passed, the bond will not increase taxes.

Kettering residents were asked via survey and focus groups (see survey information below) to help the City prioritize what facilities should be improved. The facilities that topped the list were outdoor recreation facilities and the recreation complex. The City will be working with architects to create conceptual drawings of what the improvements could be.

The bond issue would provide approximately $12.3 million for improvements and will continue to cost the owner of a $100,000 home approximately $25 per year. In 1988, voters approved a bond issue that provided the same level of funding for various improvements to PRCA facilities.

Community Attitude and Interest Survey

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts department recently hired Leisure Vision, a Division of ETC Institute, to conduct a Community Attitude and Interest Survey. The survey consisted of a random sample telephone survey and a series of focus groups. The executive summary is below. For a full version of the survey, please email kettprca@ketteringoh.org.

Proposed Project Information

The City has been working with two architect firms to develop plans to improve various parks and facilities based on the comments from the survey. The drawings you see show some of the proposed uses of the bond issue funds over the next 5 years. We hope you find the drawings interesting.
