Martin Luther King, Jr. Writing Contest

December 16, 2016 | Stacy Schweikhart

In order to encourage Kettering residents to reflect on the life and teachings of Dr. King and to promote his dream and legacy for America, the Board of Community Relations is sponsoring a writing contest for Kettering students. Students participating should identify a relevant current topic and then write about how they think Dr. King would respond. Examples of current relevant topics could include the Ferguson unrest, the legalization of gay marriage in Ohio, the recent visit to the United States by Pope Francis, or the upcoming presidential elections. The purpose of the writing contest is to look at current events and use the teachings and life of Dr. King to determine if we are living up to his legacy.
