Financial Assistance

The City of Kettering provides several financial tools to assist homebuyers and homeowners to reach their housing goals within the City. If you are looking to purchase your first home, finance repairs needed for your home or reinvest in your home by remodeling or expanding your living space, the City has a variety of programs available.
Key programs available are:

Homebuyer Assistance (DPA) Program

Homebuyer Assistance is available to buyers who meet the program requirements. Applicants for the Kettering Homebuyer Assistance Program must have a certificate of completion of an 8-hour HUD approved Home Buyer Course and housing counseling. Housing Rehabilitation Program

This program provides low-interest loans to income eligible homeowners to make needed repairs to their home. This program also provides deferred loans for qualified elderly and disabled. Housing Counseling

A recent survey  showed that foreclosure rates in the Montgomery County, Ohio area were among the worst in the nation. The HomeOwnership Center (HOC) of Greater Dayton, a partner agency to the City of Kettering, provides foreclosure counseling and education services to current and potential Kettering homeowners. The HOC holds private counseling sessions in Kettering on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.  For more information about their programs and course dates, please call 937-853-1600. Historic Preservation and Proposed Federally Funded Projects

Clearance for some Community Development projects must be obtained from the Ohio Historic Preservation Office prior to commitment of funds. Historic review of these projects must comply with Section 106 standards set by the Secretary of the Interior. Information regarding historic review for current or proposed projects is available at the City of Kettering Planning and Development Department. Questions, comments, or objections regarding historical preservation at proposed Community Development projects may be directed to the Community Development Program at 937-296-3020.
