Status Update:

This project will begin in May 2016 and run through November of 2016.

November 7, 2016

The project is substantially complete. Residents are asked to continue their regular watering of the lawn areas impacted by construction.

October 11, 2016

Current work: Concrete flatwork is being completed this week. Residents on the west side will soon be able to access their driveways (once the concrete cures sufficiently to withstand vehicular loadings).

The contractor will be repairing/replacing stormwater catch basins for the next couple weeks. Please park away from these structures (avoiding both sides of the street) so that vehicles can pass.

Residents on the east side are asked to continue their regular watering of the lawn areas impacted by construction.

What’s next: Within the next few weeks, the lawn areas on the west side of the road will be hydro-seeded. Residents are asked to water these lawn areas regularly.

Future impacts: Finally, the asphalt pavement will be milled and resurfaced. This will take several days. Access will be limited during these operations. Please follow the direction of the contractor for safety and damage prevention.

September 19, 2016

Current work: Grass seed has been spread on the east side of Valleywood Drive – Residents are asked to water these areas regularly.

The curb and drive approaches on the west side of Valleywood Drive are being removed now. Parking is prohibited on the west side of the road.

What’s next: Starting next week, drive access will be closed on the west side of Valleywood for up to two weeks during the construction of the new curb and drive approaches. Please do not walk on the fresh concrete for at least 24 hours after it is poured. Vehicles need to stay off the fresh concrete for seven days.

Future impacts: Once the construction of the curb and drive approaches is complete, the contractor will finish isolated sidewalk repair, adjust catch basins to grade, and restore the grass lawns. This will be followed by asphalt paving.

September 1, 2016

Current work: The curb, drive approaches, and sidewalk on the east side of Valleywood Drive have been replaced. The contractor is currently placing topsoil, and will be seeding soon. Please water the newly planted grass seed – this is the best time of year for grass to grow.

What’s next: In 1-2 weeks (weather dependent), drive access on the west side of Valleywood Drive will be closed for up to two weeks for construction of the curb and drive approaches. Parking will be prohibited on the west side of the road. Residents are advised to park on the east side of the road, or on the side streets. NO PARKING signs and door hangers will provide advance notice to residents.

August 19, 2016

Current work: The curb on the east side of Valleywood Drive was replaced this week. The contractor is now replacing drive approaches on the same side of the road. Access to these driveways will be closed for up to two weeks during this process. Please do not walk on the fresh concrete for at least 24 hours after it was poured. Vehicles need to stay off the fresh concrete for seven days. Parking is prohibited on the east side of the road. Residents are advised to park on the west side of the road, or on the side streets.

Future impacts: Once the construction of the curb and drive approaches is complete, the contractor will finish isolated sidewalk repair. This will be followed by restoration of the grass lawn and asphalt paving.

August 9, 2016

Current work: Removal of curb and drive approaches on the east side of Valleywood Drive.

What’s next: Starting as early as Monday, August 15, drive access on the east side of Valleywood Drive will be closed for up to two weeks for construction of the curb and drive approaches. Parking will be prohibited on the east side of the road. Residents are advised to park on the west side of the road, or on the side streets. NO PARKING signs and door hangers will provide advance notice to residents.

Future impacts: Once the construction of the curb and drive approaches is complete on the east side of Valleywood Drive, the work will move the west side. The same conditions will apply.

August 1, 2016

Current work: Repair or replacement of isolated stormwater structures and pipe.

What’s next: Removal of curb and drive approaches on one side of street.

Future impacts: L.J. DeWeese (contractor) will notify residents prior to replacement of the curb and drive approach to help ensure vehicles are not stranded in the driveway or garage while access is closed. It will take 10-14 days before vehicular access is restored (removal of concrete, preparation of base, machine-pouring of curb and hand-forming of drive approaches, curing of concrete). Parking will be limited to one side of street.

What’s next: Sawcutting for removal of curb is scheduled to occur in the next few weeks.
