Bridge Status Update:
November 8, 2016: The City’s contractor has completed the paving and sidewalk project on East Stroop Road. While milling off the existing asphalt surface over the bridge located between Robertann Drive and Pobst Drive, the contractor exposed the existing concrete beams which were badly deteriorated.
The Montgomery County Engineer’s Office owns the bridge and has determined that temporary safety measures must be put in place until the bridge can be replaced. These measures include reducing traffic to one lane in each direction along Stroop Road and a 15 ton maximum weight restriction for vehicles traveling over the bridge. These measures are now in place.
The City of Kettering and the Montgomery County Engineer are working in close coordination to ensure the safety of the traveling public who use East Stroop Road while working on a solution to replace the bridge as soon as funding can be secured
